What a lovely surprise! We didn’t really know what to expect when we arrived in Zagreb<\/strong> and we thought we’d find a city in the former Yugoslavia with little in the way of architecture, as the great Communist dictatorships of the second half of the 20th century knew how to do. And to say that we didn’t see any of that on the outskirts of the city would be lying to you. But what we did find in Zagreb were traces of the Austro-Hungarian past in the historic centre of a city on a human scale. In this guide, you’ll find information on the main sites to see in the city, as well as our picks for accommodation, restaurants and bars, and at the end, practical information to help you organise your trip.
