Meat would arrive here by train (on what is now the High Line) to be detailed in this district and distributed throughout the city. Everyone is more or less sensitive to art and collections, but the terraces overlooking the Meatpacking district are unanimously appreciated! As the end of the day approaches, it’s time to head to the Financial District, nicknamed “FIDI”, an increasingly up-and-coming and trendy neighbourhood. With its glass towers and unique atmosphere, it’s New York’s new must-see destination. This is where you’ll find the famous “Wall Street Bull” statue, which is always crowded with tourists (get there early if you want to take a photo). It’s located in Bowling Green Park, at the end of Broadway, not far from Battery Park. If you want to experience the real atmosphere of New York’s business district, come to the Wall Street stock exchange on a weekday morning when the traders are at work. This is also an opportunity to visit the World Trade Center site and its museum, the Oculus (the shopping centre, station and masterpiece by Santiago Calatrava, which represents hope with its sculpture of a dove taking flight). Take the time to stroll through the colourful neighbourhoods of Tribeca and Greenwich Village. When lunchtime approaches, grab a bagel to go and have a picnic in Central Park, for example! Free time for shopping on 5th Avenue, for example, or at Urban Outfitters, one of my favourite shops! At the end of the afternoon, head to the Brooklyn Bridge and walk across it to the other side (allow a good hour).
